In times of crisis, times of trouble, a leader’s actions speak louder than words. All eyes are on the leaders. Most officers have a story about a time when they were in a hurry. The story goes something like this:

There I was, rushing to a meeting, grasping at my notes. Along the way, an NCO (non-commissioned officer, senior enlisted) stopped me and said, “Excuse me, ma’am, you need to walk.” Huh? “The troops, ma’am, they’re watching you, wondering about whether or not they need to worry. You should only run during a fitness test. Otherwise, everything is under control and you’re walking.”

During this time, are you walking? Are you being deliberate about what’s important? Or are you running?
